I’m sure you have heard of S.M.A.R.T goals at least once. Maybe you even thought that people meant to make a "smart goal", when you heard the term. Or, you may never of heard of it at all, and that’s ok too.
S.M.A.R.T is actually an acronym, to help you establish measurable goals with a structure. There are many different methods you can use, when setting goals but, I find using this method, you are more likely to achieve your goals.
As obvious as it sounds, it is super important to be as specific as possible when setting up your goal. The more specific you can be the more effectively you can plan.
Make sure that whatever the goal you are choosing, that it is measurable. It is important to learn from our goals, sometimes we may not achieve the desired outcome and this measurement will allow you to see that.
It is important to be ambitious but it is also important to be realistic. I mean, I want to be President of Australia but that’s not going to happen for many, many reasons!
Make sure that your goal aligns with your long term objectives and most importantly your personal values.
Set one! Have a deadline so that you’re not meandering by waiting for it to happen. Having a date can help motivate you to get results. Make it realistic and ambitious so that you can prioritise tasks accordingly.
